Some key aspects of the current state of education in Afghanistan include. There has been a substantial increase in school enrolment, with millions of children, including girls, now attending school. However, gender disparities still exist, particularly in rural areas.Efforts have been made to rebuild and improve educational facilities, although many schools still lack basic resources such as classrooms, textbooks, and trained teachers.Universities and vocational institutes have been reopened and expanded, offering a wider range of programs to students. Despite progress, the education system faces numerous challenges. These include insecurity, cultural barriers, poverty, and insufficient funding. Many children are still out of school, and dropout rates are high, particularly among girls. There are ongoing efforts to update and improve the curriculum to make it more relevant and inclusive. The quality of education remains a concern, with a need for better teacher training and resources.Various international organizations and NGOs continue to support Afghanistan's education sector through funding, technical assistance, and on-the-ground programs aimed at improving access and quality.
During the 1960s and 1970s, Afghanistan experienced a period of modernization and development
Education in Afghanistan has a long and varied history, shaped by the country’s diverse cultural, religious, and political landscape. Historically, education was primarily informal, with local communities relying on religious leaders and scholars to impart knowledge. The formal education system began to take shape in the early 20th century under the reign of King Emanuella Khan, who introduced significant reforms to modernize the country, including education.During the 1960s and 1970s, Afghanistan experienced a period of modernization and development, with an expanding network of schools and universities. However, decades of conflict from the late 1970s onwards severely disrupted the education system. The Soviet invasion, civil war, and the Taliban regime led to the destruction of educational infrastructure and limited access to education, especially for girls.

Despite threats and societal challenges, a group of girls in Kabul established a robotics team the Afghan Dreamers.
